采青 2012!

You guys make a big difference to my life.

This is definitely the best performance I have ever had in my life.

采青 2012 has made a very big difference in my life. I have learnt to be responsible for planning the routes, more friendly to juniors and batchmates, encouraging to the performers, diligent in my performance, quick to react to unexpected situations, thankful to each and every one who helped in one way or another.

I really don't know how to express my gratitude to DALT members and the families we performed for.
Much thanks to all DALT members, for their passion and the 110% effort put in in making 采青 an awesome and memorable one.
Special thanks to seniors who came back to help today! Not only by helping, their presence really helped to brighten things up!
Special mention to the lorry driver who brought us around today, his humour really helped to perk me up!

Joining DALT was through CCA transfer via Mr J Ong, and I never thought that one day I will be talking to him, about our 采青 3 years later.
Didn't thought that Mdm Ang was so supportive of us and so elated when we went to her house. And her sister's shop afterwards.
Didn't thought that Mrs Teng and apartment households were awaiting for the lion dance performances every year and their generosity.
Didn't thought that Mr P Tan will be impressed by us and really glad that his extended family enjoyed our performance even though it was my first time doing 高青 and 地青 at the same time.
Didn't thought that 教练's friend was so generous and the atmosphere was really high at their place.
Didn't thought that Mr L Teo's house was so warming and his hospitality to DALT this afternoon, together with many PE teachers and their families. (and also Mr Jack whom I didn't expect his presence!)

It definitely didn't cross my mind that we will be able to make it for 采青 this year. It all started small, and I remembered randomly asking Mr P Tan about it, and not long later, he confirmed with me the performance.

One thrilling experience was writing an email to all NY staff promoting 采青 a few weeks ago. (and that's how we managed to perform at Mr L Teo's!)

The most memorable one is the making of 采青 cards!! Our first year trying out this method and thanks to our dearest vice-pres, HC (Her blog post about the cards is here!!), we managed to get the design done! And printing them out just before 采青!
Of course, not forgetting the continuous support from Mdm Heng and our teachers-in-charge. Really thank Mdm Heng for always being supportive of NY DALT and giving us the opportunity, really, to go out and perform, as well as all the other performances before this and those upcoming ones.

While others are out for visitation during CNY period, I am really glad that NY DALT is able to continue this tradition of annual 采青. Thinking back about this 9 hours spent performing, I couldn't have imagined what this day would be like without 采青.

From accommodating to the times and performers to designing the routes and the performance details, although it took up a lot of time for me and HC, it was all worth it. Receiving messages of thanks and encouragement, as well as the joy and smiles we brought to the families, all the hard work in preparing for this day was all worth it.

I started thinking about next year's 采青, I will definitely be helping out, like how seniors came back to help today, but how this tradition is going to keep on and bringing the members together as one every year during this day of performances. It's really not for the money we earned, but for the opportunity we have every year, on a certain day, to go out together as a CCA group to perform around Singapore, whether for the households we know or not. It brings great satisfaction seeing everyone put in every effort in performing for others and chatting on our way. And browsing through some of the photos, I felt so touched. In fact, I cried thinking about how we have came about these years and in the years to come.

Nonetheless, the biggest room in the world is the room of improvement. There are going to be more performances upcoming and all the more so since we are quite well-known! (well, at least among the teachers in NY!)

Every time I feel tired, I think of the support and encouragement from friends, seniors and teachers, I always want to do a little more for NY DALT. I believe and hope that NY DALT will thrive for the best this year and for the years to come! A lot more feelings yet to be expressed, in all, I am very very proud of NY DALT!

3 cheers and 3 cheers and 3 cheers for NY DALT!
